About Me

I am Scarlett and I’m currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of neuroscience. I started my university journey in 2020. The lack of in-person experiences made the university life still refreshing to me. I transferred from human behaviours to the neuroscience program after my second year of study because I feel like I wanted a more research-focused carrier, and the decision really brought me deep into many areas of basic science research. While tough at times, I grew an appreciation to the multidisciplinary nature of the program that exposed me to biology, physics, organic chemistry, behavioural studies, neuroanatomy as well as all these subjected intertwined.

Aside from neuroscience, I also took the opportunity to discover psychology as a minor. I see neuroscience as a method to really understand the underlying mechanisms of the inner working of our brains.

Looking back at my experiences, I am genuinely shocked by the fact that I was able to get to this far in my student career. Topics that seemed out of reach just a few years ago are now frequently brought up in lectures and daily conversations. I felt honoured to be surrounded by real people who have made an impact on this world through their wonderful scientific minds. I will take this course as an opportunity to improve my communication skills through practices and team works, and I look forward to the learning experiences in the upcoming year.
